Image of the Week 2
Sunrise over exposed rocks, Pines, Wainui Beach, Gisborne
Upon the discovery of this unique subject with the Gissy arm of the family, I felt the immediate need to represent it with the medium of photography. This particular morning I managed to achieve my goal of getting into position 30 min before sunrise which gives me the spaciousness to consider the subject, light and set up my equipment without sweating too much.😂 It was on and I was shooting everything and anything as the conditions where perfect for this subject matter. I lined up this shot seconds before the sun came over the horizon and knew that as I was capturing this scene that it was going to be a wall hanger!👍🏾
I have spent a lot of time at this beach in and out of the water and this is the first time I have seen this collection of rocks exposed. What strikes me about this image is the contrast between the warm orange sun and the vivid green rocks. Gisborne also happens to be one of the first places in the world to see the sun which makes this image particularly powerful.🧐
Kia Ora everybody,
For those of you who don’t know, my name is Ebony Whitaker and I am a Maori landscape photographer who runs Fine Art Landscape Photography, a small business here in New Zealand.
This is the second of a series of emails sent at the beginning of each week (or close enough as it is Tuesday) which will include a photograph, description, the technical information and a few words too.
My intention in sending this email is to inspire you to reconnect with nature which is something we could all do more of in this fast paced modern day world (including me).🦚
There is still the weight of uncertainty hanging in the air but it feels like everybody is settling into the new normal. This time is bringing me back to the fundamentals in life and forcing me to think differently, frankly I feel like I have received this opportunity with my entire being and am squeezing the shit out of it.😂
I invite you to take a few moments from your day to review this image mindfully and consider your own response?
In support of this initiative can you please share this with anyone who you think would also enjoy receiving it. 🤔
Here at FALP feedback is always encouraged and feel free to flick me an email, message or comment on social media.🙌🏾
Thank you for supporting my photography by taking the time to review this email. Yeeeeeeeeew!
